Our Mission

ValueOS is an independent, free research tool. We distill six decades of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway shareholder letters into structured, comparable analysis โ€” scores, concepts, company mentions, and people โ€” so individual investors can think the way Buffett thinks, with data.

Data Sources & Evidence

Every metric on ValueOS is derived from primary, public sources โ€” never from estimates or paid feeds:

  • U.S. SEC EDGAR โ€” XBRL financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) filed with the SEC.
  • Berkshire Hathaway shareholder letters โ€” the original primary text our concepts and quotes are drawn from.
  • Live market prices sourced from public market data providers, displayed alongside SEC fundamentals.

How Scores Are Calculated

The ValueOS Score blends Business Quality (return on equity, gross margin, revenue growth), Financial Strength (debt, free cash flow, liquidity), and Valuation (intrinsic value vs. price via DCF). Each input is computed from SEC filings and current prices. The full methodology is consistent across every stock so results are comparable. We do not accept payment to change a score or a rating.

Editorial Independence

ValueOS is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Berkshire Hathaway or Warren Buffett. "Buffett", "Berkshire Hathaway", and related names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe the public ideas we analyze. We are an independent editorial team; our analysis is educational and is not investment advice.
